FreeMail Application

Inframail Advantage Server Edition includes the built-in FreeMail(*) application written in the Infrascript language. This script is executed inline by the HTTP server and is much faster than other similar CGI-based solutions. And because it is scripted it can be easily customized and extended: eg. to add language strings, advertising or new functionality.

However, if you work in a Microsoft IIS/ASP environment and prefer to 'roll your own' FreeMail then the PostieX ActiveX component works seemlessly with Inframail to create the perfect custom solution. Special extensions to the IMAP4 protocol allow persistent connection pooling (which can greatly reduce resources used) and account maintenance operations (add, delete, modify) to be performed. PostieX will soon also be able to interract directly with the Inframail Advantage Server's LDAP based Directory Server where account and mailing-list information is held.

(*) FreeMail is a public web-based mail application whereby people can sign up for an account. Similar services are run by Hotmail and Yahoo for instance.
